To end our amazing 3.5 week honeymoon we decided to spend a few days in Bangkok for one purpose…. shopping.
Our hotel was very close to MBK one of the large malls that was sort of like an indoor market with little stalls set up permanently.
We covered a lot of shops in our few days there and want to provide some tips below;
– MBK wasn’t as good as I expected but it was still good for the odd thing. Don’t expect to come away with bags full and careful when buying makeup
– We had a few stalls that would open up at night near our hotel, literally on the road side, a table out with gym gear, shorts etc. The best quality stuff we got was actually from this little stall!
– Central World was huge and it reminded me of Dubai in terms of the shops they had. So if you aren’t use to being able to shop at Zara etc then this mall is good but expensive if you came to Thailand expecting to not spend much. We actually caught the metro to this which worked well.
In terms of sightseeing and getting out of shopping malls we enjoyed walking around taking in the hectic streets of Bangkok. We took a boat to Wat Pho, Bangkoks oldest and largest temple. The boat ride itself was interesting, the water so was so dirty and it was splashing up the sides of the boat!
On our last night we ventured to the Sky Bar at Lebua, State Tower in which a scene in the movie the Hangover 2 was filmed, this open air bar overs Bangkok city. It was beautiful (and drinks were very expensive!).
