Waiheke island

Only a 40min ferry ride from Auckland city. Waiheke Island is the perfect weekend escape.

I (Anita) had been wanting to go glamping for ages so when I found this little gem on Waiheke I booked the last available weekend before Winter hit!

The tent had a queen size bed (frame and all), gas heater and seating etc inside. It also had its own bathroom in a little hut outside as well as its own private seating area next to the river. It was only a 5minute stroll to the beach and 10 minutes to the township.

We discovered that a lot of the tours only run over Summer so we were unable to do the hop on hop off wine tour we wanted to do which was a shame. So instead we ended up at Cable Bay Vineyard for the afternoon, this vineyard is one of the most popular as its reasonably close to the ferry terminal. It overlooks the water and the outdoor seating has an array of beanbags enabling you to enjoy a glass of wine on the comfort of a beanbag while overlooking the harbour.
